The year after graduating college I wrote a short Kyrie for the tiny church choir I conducted. That's the first minute of this piece. Recently that little Kyrie came to mind, and upon revisiting it I decided to complete it, adding the Christe and second Kyrie. Only after I finished writing this new material did I look at the completion date of the original and realize it was exactly 30 years ago, March 1990.
